Healthy Aging Partner Project Funding Opportunity
Washington County Public Health and Environment has an application for organizations to apply for up to $5,000 to work with the target population of 60 and older on one of the following focus areas: healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco reduction, and fall prevention. These funds are made available through the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP), which strives to help Minnesotans lead longer, healthier lives by preventing the chronic disease risk factors of tobacco use and exposure, poor nutrition and physical inactivity. More details on what organizations can apply for can be found in the information below.
The funding cycle will begin November 2016 through October 2017.

Local healthcare providers continue to make referrals to Call It Quits tobacco cessation program, or offer Freedom from Smoking cessation classes to clients who are ready to quit tobacco use. See the Resource Guide for more information.
“When healthcare professionals say to their patients ‘you need to exercise more, eat healthier or quit smoking’ it is powerful. If the physician can also provide a connection to local cooking classes, fitness programs and other wellness resources they empower their patients to make lifestyle changes not in isolation but within a community of support. This could greatly benefit patients’ ability to make better choices and lead healthier lives and also would benefit the health of our communities as a whole.”
